Soldier martyred, terrorist ringleader killed in 2 KP military engagements: ISPR

A soldier was martyred while a wanted terrorist was killed in separate military operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram and Mardan districts, according to a press release from the military’s media wing on Friday. The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release said two engagements took place between security forces and terrorists in the province on the night between Thursday and Friday. An intelligence-based operation was conducted in Mardan district’s general area of Katlang, resulting in the killing of a “high-value target, terrorist ringleader Faisal”. Govt keeps petrol price unchanged hikes diesel by Rs7.5

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday announced that the price of petrol would remain unchanged at Rs262 per litre for the next fortnight while the price of diesel was raised by Rs7.5 per litre. Addressing a press conference today, the finance minister did not specify if he was referring to high-speed diesel or light diesel oil. He also did not announce if there were any changes in the price of kerosene. Explaining the reason for the price increase, Dar said the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) had reported an increase of $3.5 in diesel prices in the international markets in the last few days, with a similar upward trend for petrol prices. The announcement came in the early hours of Friday after the two sides concluded the fifth round of talks at JI’s protests site at Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh.
