Muttahida points finger at PPP, JI for using local govt funds in poll campaigns

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan on Saturday alleged that the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Jamaat-i-Islami were openly violating election laws in their respective campaigns for the Feb 8 general elections as their local government representatives were freely using government funds and machinery for campaigning. ZAKA Ashraf LAHORE: Zaka Ashraf tendered his resignation as the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Interim Management Committee (IMC) chairman on Friday, departing from his role 16 days prior to the scheduled completion of his extended three-month term, which commenced on November 4 last year. Border trade with Iran remains unaffected

QUETTA: Trade activities between Pakistan and Iran continued as usual, as both countries kept all their crossing points open despite the airspace violation by Iranian forces and the subsequent retaliatory strikes by Pakistani forces. Pakistan, Dubai ink $3 billion pacts at Davos

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Dubai on Thursday inked two agreements worth over $3 billion on cooperation in railways, economic zones and infrastructure projects. According to an official press release, the inter-governmental framework agreements were signed to strengthen relations in the marine and logistics sectors, including the establishment of a dedicated freight corridor and economic zone near Karachi. “The rail-based dedicated freight corridor (DFC) was planned to run from Karachi Port on the Arabian Sea, passing through Karachi to the Pipri Marshalling Yard, approximately 50 kilometres away. Fact check: Pakistan did not have prior knowledge of Iran’s aerial strike

A post circulating on social media on Wednesday claimed that Iran’s aerial strike on Pakistani territory a day earlier was made after talking to the latter’s government. However, no such talks were held between the two countries before the incident. The strikes, Iran claimed, had targeted bases for the militant group Jaish al-Adl in the border town of Panjgur in Balochistan.
